Here we have a briliant mix of 45s pieced together by Dave from HeavySoulBrutha. Its a boss mix that takes us on a journey threw Funk, Soul, Psyche and Jazz. I’ll let the main man describe it better than I can.
“The first half of the mix are some album cuts, getting things started off with a cool tune from a South African singer named Letta that I was unfamiliar with. Zulema does Marvin’s, “If This World Were Mine” superbly. And the unbelievably monster jam from sax player, Joe Farrell called, “Upon This Rock.” The second half are mainly 45′s highlighted by one I’ve been searching for, it seems like forever, Betty Harris’ “There’s A Break In The Road.” A few of the 45′s are a bit noisy, but I couldn’t resist putting them in your ears just cause the music is so damn great. Rounding out the set is Soul Sista #1…Marva Whitney. Sadly, Marva died a few weeks ago and I was lucky to run across her 45 soon after.”
An hour of some things you’ll know and some things you wont.
